In this paper, I shall discuss a few important recent UK authorities on the nature of fairness in public law cases. Some elaborate new legal principles or new application of principles, whilst others confirm longstanding legal standards. However, the cases I address concern the public law principle of fairness covering:
-the purpose of procedural fairness;
-that the duty of fairness does not include “substantive fairness,” but is limited to procedural fairness;
-that the content of the duty of fairness depends on context and the particular facts of the case; and
-that bias principles apply to arbitrators.
